Short answer: This message comes straight from Stripe, for the account the app is signed in to. If your Dashboard says you're all set, you're most likely looking at a different Stripe account than the app.
Why it happens
The app shows Account setup in progress when Stripe hasn't turned on card payments for the account. The line under it tells you which case you're in:
- There are items due. Tap Complete setup on Stripe.
Account setup in progress
Stripe needs a few more details before you can accept payments
- Same, with a deadline. Do it now.
Account setup in progress
Stripe needs these details soon to keep your account active
- Nothing to do. Tap Refresh status to check.
Account setup in progress
Stripe is verifying your details. Most checks finish in minutes. Stripe will email you if it needs anything else.
- The setup form was never submitted.
Account setup in progress
Finish setting up your account on Stripe to start accepting payments
Two other titles mean something else. Payments paused by Stripe and Stripe can't accept payments for this account are Stripe's decision. See Stripe account restricted or rejected.
How to fix it
- Tap Complete setup on Stripe and finish every step, including bank details. You can finish inside the app or in your browser.
- Waiting on verification? Tap Refresh status. If nothing changes, the app says:
No change yet. Stripe will email you when it's done.
- Dashboard shows no tasks? Check the account ID. The sheet shows Stripe account: followed by an ID starting with acct_. Compare it to the ID at the bottom of your Stripe Dashboard's user settings. If they differ, sign in with the other account. See The app asks me to create a new Stripe account.
- IDs match and Stripe still shows nothing? Contact Stripe support. Only Stripe can see why it's holding the account.
You may still be able to take payments but not get paid. If you see Finish setup to get paid to your bank, Stripe is holding payouts until you add the details it lists.
