Apply a coupon or discount

Short answer: Yes. Payment for Stripe uses the coupons from your Stripe account. Create the coupon once, then apply it to a sale in the app.

Step 1: Create the coupon in Stripe.
The app lists your coupons but doesn't create them. Make a percentage-off or amount-off coupon in your Stripe Dashboard. Until you do, the Coupons list says "No Coupons" (on Android: "No coupons").

Step 2: Apply it to a sale.

  1. Open the menu and tap Coupons.
  2. Tap the coupon you want. On iPhone, tap Add to Cart. On Android, tap Add coupon, or swipe the row to add it.
  3. Go back and ring up the sale. The coupon shows as a small tag on the amount screen, and the discount shows as its own line on the sale review screen and receipt.

On iPhone, tap the coupon tag on the amount screen to choose Change coupon or remove it. On the Coupons list, the button flips to Remove from Cart (Android: Remove coupon).

When a coupon won't apply:

  • It's expired or fully redeemed. The app says:

This coupon has expired or been fully redeemed.

  • It's in a different currency than the sale. A coupon in one currency can't discount a sale in another.
  • It's limited to certain products and none are in the sale (Android shows "No eligible items").
  • You're making a payment link. Payment links can't carry a coupon, so remove it or charge the sale in the app.

Each coupon shows how many times it's been used and when it expires, so you can keep an eye on promos.
