Troubleshooting Tap to Pay on iPhone

Tap to Pay on iPhone lets you accept contactless payments with just your phone — no reader needed. You'll need an iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.4 or greater. If it's not working, here are the usual culprits:

  • Running a beta version of iOS
  • Trying to use Tap to Pay on an iPad (it's iPhone-only)
  • Your Stripe account isn't US-based (Tap to Pay is US-only)
  • Location services aren't enabled for the Payment app

If you hit a problem adding your business location, add it manually in your Stripe Dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com/terminal/locations (it must be a US address).
